We Create Our Own Reality

Do you wonder why some buildings can change the way you feel? Well wonder no more.

There are certain mathematical ratios that occur repeatedly in the universe, and have been known to the most advanced civilizations preceding us. Most of the currently built structures in the US do not reflect these geometric ratios, and architects do not learn any of this in school. Nowadays it is all about costs and efficiencies. Project managers have more to say about the construction than the architects. Buildings are merely boxes in which we work or things are sold.

As the author reflects, our buildings reflect our current nature. Looks like we're not as advanced as we perceive ourselves to be.

Herbert Bangs brings extraordinary insights into his scholarly yet impassioned exploration of sacred architecture, which is a relatively new and vitally important subject. Bangs presents illustrations and historical accounts of a wide variety of architectural structures, letting the stories of each example demonstrate the points he makes regarding archetypes of shelter (cave, clearing, garden, water, elements), archetypes of design (duality, hierarchy, materials), and resolution of form. Bangs enthusiastically praises those architectural masterpieces which prove themselves to be aesthetically pleasing and livable, and denounces designs which may have been lauded by others, yet actually are tolerable by few. There are reasons why some spaces can lead people to feel relaxed and refreshed... or confused and stressed... and Bangs brilliantly describes the architectural principles and qualities that create these results. THE RETURN OF SACRED ARCHITECTURE is a clarion call for adopting a more intuitive approach to design and a better appreciation for the sources of divine inspiration. I give this book my highest recommendation to everyone, since all of us are at some point involved in designing, buying, visiting, and living in architectural structures.

Alice (without the rabbit hole) is the only single at the company, now that all of her friends got married and become mommies. In her thirties, she dumped her four year relationship boyfriend because she couldn't handle their perfect, simple routine anymore. She needed adverture, she needed something to blast her desires, physically and mentally.

When Alice's friend arrange a night out at a brand new club with all mommies, she wanted to call out but she couldn't deny them for ever, nor to not have fun anymore. And after that night, she couldn't deny her desires either; and the Dark Alley will be the perfect path to complete these desires. No strings attached!

A very well-written short dark story, page turner I must say, made me not want to stop reading it. The story is interesting, like eyes wide closed movie, but with hotter and captivating scenes. I believe that the story isn't a love story but something else, something that intent to make us fell the lust and to be wanted and desirable and kinky. Be in the world of fantasies with a stranger in a Dark Alley!

I totally enjoy reading it, at the late hours of night, and it was so easy to be in her shoe because it was written every detail, is possible be, about the sex scenes and her feelings about them! So hot stuff! I absolutely recomment it!

This is the first of a series by D.S. Wrights. It's a rather short novella, but it holds a lot of promise of things to come.

Imagine a secret club where you can have safe anonymous sex with complete strangers in a dark alley. Would you join such a club? Well, Alice has just received a mysterious invitation to the Dark Alley club.

Alice is recently single, and a bit jaded about men. She has decided that she does not need a regular relationship, but she still has normal urges, and her BOB is not really doing the trick anymore.

Taking a chance she decides to see what this mysterious club is all about. She does not end up regretting it, but is she getting in too deep with something she may not fully understand? I guess we'll have to wait for the next installment to find out.

This is a quick easy read, but well worth it if you are looking for an erotic fantasy story, but not if you are looking for a romance. Although there is a tease that something more may happen later on.

I was intrigued by the premise and see a lot of potential in it. I'm looking forward to seeing where the author takes the story. I liked Alice and want her to be happy, and so far she seems quite happy.

I would encourage you to kick off your shoes and just lean back and enjoy the ride as you travel down the rabbit hole with Alice. Who knows what you may find along the way?

I need more and I need it now

I received an ARC for an honest review.
I can say that this is a story I have been waiting to come out, and I was not disappointed. [author:D S Wrights|8313425] has done it again. I have not read any of her books that I haven't loved.

So this story opens a woman up to the possibility of getting what she wants with out the worry of following the pack and becoming the good wife and mother that is expected. Alice is our main character and she is out with friends when she is given an invite to a club know as dark alley. There is no real clue who has invited her or what might happen oh but she and everyone that reads this knows what they hope it is. This is not a story of a young dumb girl that takes risks just for the heck of it. Alice is a smart women that even though there is risk in what she is doing she had the sense to take steps to protect herself.

Although this was a very quick read there was some of everything you could hope for in a novella. We went from dread to fun to holy cow to what the heck I need more and I sure as h*** need to know who the stranger in the alley is. So to say that I need the next installment like yesterday is an understatement. I hope the helps someone that is undecided on this book but just remember this is my opinion and I loved it.

Chapter 1
ROBOT, RADAR, AND DRILLS

There is nothing more awesome or more provocative than the sight of the Giza necropolis, the home of the Three Pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Giza, few will deny, personifies the mysteries of our remote past and also symbolizes that universal yearning and age-old expectation that one day a great discovery will be made, one that will totally alter our perception of who we really are and where we have come from.

The Giza necropolis is situated approximately ten kilometers west of modern Cairo, half an hour by car from central Cairo. The necropolis is best approached from the east through the village of Nazlat El Sam’man. Flanked by busy coffee bars, souvenir shops, and restaurants, the high street of Nazlat is a bustling array of donkeys, camels, horses, street vendors, and the proverbial hawkers. Upon reaching the extremity of this street, the humdrum of modern Egypt suddenly switches itself off as you are confronted with an alien landscape and the gaze of the venerable sentinel of the ancient mysteries, the human-headed lion-bodied statue universally known as the Sphinx.

The Sphinx has been deliberately made to face due east, the place of the rising sun at the equinoxes. Weather-beaten by the elements and scarred by vandals and thieves, the Sphinx testifies to the passing of three great civilizations: Pharaonic, Greek, and Roman. It may well see our civilization through, as well. The Sphinx is sixty-five feet tall and forty-five feet wide. It sits, with front paws outstretched, in a U-shaped pit.

In 1991, Boston geologist Robert Schoch and Egyptologist John Anthony West created a huge controversy over the age of the Sphinx. They pointed out that the vertical erosion fissures attached a date of more than 8,000 years on the statue. In 1996, Graham Hancock and I showed, with the use of precessional astronomy, that the Sphinx must be linked to the date of 10,500 BCE.

MANSIONS OF ETERNITY

Weighing as much as six million tons and towering 480 feet above the ground, the statistics of the Great Pyramid are mind-boggling: more than two and a half million blocks--each weighing an average of two tons--were needed; the construction is perfectly set out and perfectly aligned to the four cardinal directions, and all this, according to Egyptologists, without the use of iron tools, the wheel, or even the simple pulley. As if this was not enough, the builders flaunted further their engineering prowess by incorporating within the pyramid a complex system of inclined passages, tunnels, galleries, and chambers. There are three chambers in the Great Pyramid: one subterranean and two within the superstructure, the latter two being known as the Queen’s Chamber and the King’s Chamber. Some of the blocks and beams that make up the King’s Chamber weigh as much as seventy tons, jointed so tightly that even a razor blade cannot be passed through them.

The “Relief” Chambers
Above the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid are five so-called Relief Chambers. This nomenclature, as the eminent French structural engineer Professor Jean Kerisel observed, could not be more inappropriate, for these chambers are anything but “relief” to the pyramid. They actually add some 2,000 tons of dead weight to the walls of the King’s Chamber, causing unnecessary compression on the already strained walls. These Relief Chambers were discovered in 1837 by the British explorer Colonel Howard-Vyse, who had to use gunpowder to create an access to them. In three of the chambers were found ancient graffiti, the only extant writings ever found in the inside or the outside of the Great Pyramid. These chambers were the subject in late 2013 to a huge international scandal after two German explorers removed 1.5 mg of the red ochre graffiti.

When the Great Pyramid was first opened in 820 CE by the Arabs, they found nothing except an empty sarcophagus inside the King’s Chamber. As British Egyptologist Flinders Petrie pointed out, the sarcophagus is slightly larger than the entrance to the chamber, proving that it was placed within the chamber before the latter was closed from the roof. The austerity and simplicity of its design make it difficult to imagine that it was used for a royal burial. Many researchers today agree that the pyramid was probably used principally for elaborate and very occult ritualistic purposes.

Shooting upward from the south and north walls of both the King’s Chamber and Queen’s Chambers are two narrow shafts with rectangular cross-sections of 8 × 8 inches. Those from the King’s Chamber run right through to the outside of the pyramid, whereas those from the Queen’s Chamber stop some 59 meters within the solid core of the monument. Thought at first to have been ventilation shafts, these strange devices are now recognized to have been aligned to important star systems and thus undoubtedly used for ritualistic purposes.

Since the ninth century, all efforts to find a secret chamber have met with frustration. From treasure hunters with battering rams in the Middle Ages to the use of gunpowder by Colonel Howard-Vyse in 1837 and more recent radar and seismographs, no secret chamber has yet been found. Egyptologists became convinced that no such chamber existed. Then, on March 22, 1993, everything changed. A team working under the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo sent a small robot into the unexplored southern shaft of the Queen’s Chamber. The robot reached the end of the shaft some 60 meters from the Queen’s Chamber and sent images of a mysterious small “door” embossed with two copper handles.

In 2002 a team from the National Geographic Society, also using a robot, found a similar door at the end of the northern shaft of the Queen’s Chamber. Although strongly suggestive of concealed chambers beyond, the Egyptologists were so opposed to this idea that a huge debate ensued, causing the Egyptian authorities to ban any further exploration. Explorations were resumed in 2010 but then halted after the January 25, 2011, revolution.

MONUMENTAL QUEST FOR THE TRUTH

Modern Egyptologists and mainstream historians have been deceiving the public for several decades regarding the true facts in the history of ancient Egypt and level of engineering sophistication required to construct the ruins we find on the Giza plateau and other sites throughout Egypt, and also around the world. Robert Bauval is one of the few modern scholars who has examined these "intentionally- misleading" conclusions, with an open mind, fresh thinking and common sense. This book is one of the author's most important ... and at the same time - a scorching indictment of the many conspiracies to mislead the public on the real history of ancient human civilizations. While the book is, at times, overly redundant and much of the material could have been arranged and presented more chronologically for greater impact ... It took great courage for the author to write, challenge and expose the corrupt and fraudulent actions by so many of the worlds largest and most influential organizations and icons. It is an absolute must read for anyone who maintains an open mind and has an interest in the true history of our species and human heritage. very informative. however, the ending was too blunt.

I usually love the books written by Robert Bauval and this book was no exception. He clearly does not admire Dr. Hawass and neither do I. The only complaint I have is that the ending was so blunt. Will he continue to expose how crooked the Egyptian government is concerning its past history? Maybe one day the truth about the construction of the pyramids and the Sphinx will be revealed. I think there are people who know the truth but think it will embarrass the Egyptians so it is covered up.

Great read but sometimes too much details

Really good book. You will learn a lot of things concerning the heritage of Ancient Egypt that we can find in the Hermetic belief and you will learn about the Pyramids and the reason behind them. The author as a very good style, you don't feel like an archaeological book but almost like a mystery book. He is also really precise, giving dates and names of people who attended a particular meeting 20 years ago. That's maybe the issue of this book. You expect to read something concerning the hidden chamber and the author speak about it, but only for 1/2 of the book. The other half concerns the author "beef" (fight) with Zahi Awass the former head of the Egyptian Antiquity Organisation and the different trips he made to the USA to attend some organisation meetings. I understand the needs to be precise but there should be a need to be concise as well. Do we really need to have all the details concerning the misunderstanding involving the German engineer who sent his robot through the Pyramid ventilation shaft and Mr Bauval? Do we need to read all the faxes they sent each others? Since the beginning of 2015 I have already read 3 of Mr Bauval books and all of them are really well written, we learn a lot about ancient Egypt and the way they worshiped stars but sometime he add too many details that are not directly linked to the book. So I gave 4 stars to this one because it was really instructive and quite good although there was stuff that didn't need to be there.

An Exhaustive and Beautiful Presentation …

DK books are known for covering subjects in a visually appealing manner, but the upper echelon of these books are the volumes with “Smithsonian” and “The Definitive Visual Guide” in the title. These books are exquisitely presented with luxurious photography and voluminous information that adds fine detail to broad subject matter. GEM is a fine example of the quality that these Smithsonian “line” of DK books offer.

GEM provides an exhaustive study of jewels: precious/semiprecious stones, precious metals and organic gems. It serves as a one-stop-shop for all things jewel-related. Educational in nature, the visual appeal takes over the minute you begin flipping through the first few pages.

This guide is organized into four broad chapters (Native Elements, Gemstones, Organic Gems, Rock Gems and Rocks) that are loaded with information. An introductory chapter preps readers with an educational overview of gems that provides both a technical and general understanding of the material covered in the book. This informative introduction sets the tone for what is in store for the rest of the book and also serves as a handy reference point as you proceed with the gem-specific material.

The heart of the book is the coverage of the gems themselves and the book offers a tidy template that makes the volume of information being presented much easier to digest. Every stone/rock/gem is thoroughly explained with a general summary and a detailed inset that provides finer details (chemical name, formula, color, structure, hardness, luster, locations, etc.). The photography that accompanies each entry is certainly appealing and the biggest selling point of the book. The pictures are truly beautiful to study by themselves as they allow readers to see the gems in most every state. Rather than offering a simplistic array of photos, these photos are arranged for maximum visual pleasure and intricate study: varying sizes, angles and contrasting backgrounds. Many of the gems are presented as jewelry, with an abundance of renowned jewelers’ products as examples. What I found fascinating were the historical highlights that are peppered throughout the book. An up-close study of Charlemagne’s Crown, Frederick the Great’s snuff box and Russia’s Amber Room were particularly intriguing.

This is not simply “a book about gems”; it is THE book about gems. You do not have to have a particular interest in jewels to appreciate what this book has to offer … it generates an interest as soon as you start turning the pages. I am a big fan of the Smithsonian line of DK books and consider them as excellent additions to any home library.

If you like history that is true, you need to read this book. It will tell you what happened to the 12 and how they ended up. You can follow then on their journey and you can feel what they felt up to the end. Great read and you will want to read it more than one time.
